Erie Party Barn
A party barn outside North East, Pennsylvania: a cathedral-ceilinged hall and a flat-ceilinged kitchen wing, framed in 478 pieces of kiln-dried Douglas fir, 33,500 board feet in all.
A barn built for a crowd and a good barbecue.
Outside North East, Pennsylvania, Tim Barnhart set out to build a barn for gatherings: a cathedral-ceilinged hall for the charity events he hosts each year, and a kitchen tucked beneath the loft where he and a chef friend can put their award-winning barbecue to work.

The frame has two sections: a cathedral space roughly 25 by 112 feet, and a flat-ceilinged wing measuring 24 by 56 feet. The structure is built from 25-foot-wide king post bents, reinforced with bolsters and steel strapping. In all, the frame totals 478 pieces of kiln-dried Douglas fir and about 33,500 board feet.
